The Question:

Have you discovered any new flower varieties or floral supplies lately that you're excited about?

The Answers:

I've discovered the incredible Koko Loco rose but I have yet to get my hands on it. So gorgeous!! (image via Michigan Bulb Co.)

I have to admit that I haven't been to the market for quite a while now. I use garden flowers and wild flowers all the time now in the summer. My favourites are the small and unseen wild flowers that I don't even know the names of.

I discover varieties every time I go to Paris flower market! :) Right now I have a crush for pink centaureas, romantica garden roses and senecio herreanus as very fine, lace-like foliage. I also tend to use non-floral elements in my designs, and I currently have a big crush for snail shells: painted in white or gold, they look just amazing.

Further to my trip to New York to attend the Chapel Designers Annual Conference in March, I have taken inspiration from Holly Heider Chapple and Debra Prinzing and have found myself obsessed with cutting gardens and locally grown flowers. We are using mostly British grown sweet peas this season and I have found that the quality (particularly the vase life) and the price are better than Dutch grown ones. I have also already planted up foliages which are tricky to source sometimes such as Senecio. Next on the planting list is echinops as we are finding the supply to be hit and miss from Holland.

Also meeting Francoise Weeks in New York has led to a recent obsession with bark, moss and cold glue at my studio.
